Come to worship during Advent. Be resourced by the Father, Son and Holy Spirit in bread broken, wine poured out, and through the bible teaching and preaching.

Holy communion: be warmly welcome

Holy Communion is ‘the meal that Jesus gave us’ It is a central, perhaps the central, part of Christian practice.

This meal - the Lord’s Supper is a place of hospitality which is given in Jesus for the life of the world, and specifically for you on this second Sunday of Advent. Taking the bread and the wine is a small act which God uses to resource us in beautiful and mysterious ways.

At St Mark in Ampfield we welcome anyone who has been baptised, however much you are struggling, or feel you are failing, in following Jesus, we warmly welcome you.

If you aren’t sure about participating, or have no idea what this is all about please feel free to come forward, and we will be delighted to pray for God’s blessing to be with you. Our Vicar or clergy will be very happy to have a chat too.

Two weeks of Advent

This service marks the second of the four weeks of Advent. It is a time of waiting for something important.

The coming of Jesus as child in Bethlehem, and his future return as king to make right all the wrongs of the earth.

In the second week of Advent we read the book of Isaiah who prophecies that Jesus will come. Isaiah wrote about 500 years before Jesus birth. We also hear about John the Baptist, the enigmatic figure who called people to change their ways and be baptised before Jesus started his holy work.

Advent can be submerged with parties and purchasing things but it can be a tough time for those with troubles of all sorts and for those living with mental health issues or chronic illness. If you want to know more about who Jesus is and what he has done and will do or simply to talk about the stresses and strains of Advent we are here to help.
